League of the Hundred Skulls: Challenge of Valor

Tournament_Facebook

We’re moving into Block 2 of The League of The Hundred Skulls! Read on for an overview of the maps included in The Challenge of Valor!

During a League Play event, players battle each other with a single 500-point army across three scenarios using the same map, but with various victory conditions and deployment zones.

Challenges will vary over the course of events, as well as during each of the blocks over the 12-week League season, (through April 28th). Details of the second challenge are below.

League Points

Players earn League Points for playing and winning League battles within an event. After all players at the event have played all three scenarios, the player with the most League Points is the winner of the event.

Earn a total of 40 League Points during the 12-week season for an invitation to a League of the Hundred Skulls Regional Tournament. We will soon publish more details on the Regional and Grand Championships, which will be held at GenCon.

As you battle across these scenarios, the outcome of each match will earn you League Points as follows:

Absolute Victory: 4 League Points

Secure a win via the primary victory condition.

Victory: 3 League Points

Win via secondary condition, or destroy your opponent’s army.

Tie: 2 League Points each

If a game ends with players having equal Victory Points.

Defeat: 1 League Point

If your opponent achieves an Absolute Victory or Victory, the defeated player is awarded 1 League Point.

Concession: 0 League Points

If a player concedes the match.

Challenge of Valor

Challenge of Valor is the second block of the series, (you can find details of the first block here) and runs now through March 31st. Here’s a look at the different scenarios you’ll be playing.

Note: Challenge of Valor scenarios have a 12-round limit to facilitate the action and ensure all participants get to play all 3 games at an event.

Scenario A

In the first scenario, you will attempt to wrest control of the enemy’s gate region on the opposite side from your deployment zone, while denying your opponent control of the other gate. Will you take the objectives for 2 VP a round, or destroy your enemy? Both controlling gates and destroying enemy Golems will earn you victory points. Earn 6 Victory Points and victory is claimed!

ValorA

Scenario B

This scenario is a violent clash to be the last Golem standing. Will you take the scenario by destroying all your opponent’s Golems, or be shamed in annihilation? Start by placing your Golems in the highlighted deployment zones, (yes, you and your opponent have access to a mana well within your centrally-located zone!) and battle is joined as you attempt to outmaneuver your enemy. Use the hills and mana wells to gain the advantage and wipe out your opponent!

ValorB

Scenario C

The final scenario is comprised of 3 contested victory regions. With each capturable location having various strategic strengths, it will fall to you to decide the best path to victory. Will you attempt to deny your opponent any zones, or maneuver to gain advantage where they are exposed? Earn 1 Victory Point per turn that you control a Region uncontested, and collect 6 VP total to win.

Go forth, to valor and great honor!
