[UPDATE] Conquest of Eretsu: Crucible of Conflict Now Live!

League-of-the-hundred-Skulls-banner1-1030x295

The League of the Hundred Skulls rolls on with Block 2 in the “Conquest of Eretsu” series!

Block 2: “Crucible of Conflict” will run from November 4th through December 2nd.

During a League Play event, players battle each other with a single 500-point army across three scenarios using the same map, but with various victory conditions and deployment zones.

Scenarios will vary over the course of events, as well as during each of the blocks throughout the League season.

League Points

Players earn League Points for playing and winning League battles within an event. After all players at the event have played all three scenarios, the player with the most League Points is the winner of the event.

Earn League Points during the season for invitations to League of the Hundred Skulls Regional Tournaments and other events to be announced early 2016.

As you battle across these scenarios, the outcome of each match will earn you League Points as follows:

Absolute Victory: 4 League Points

Secure a win via the primary victory condition.

Victory: 3 League Points

Win via secondary condition, or destroy your opponent’s army.

Tie: 2 League Points each

If a game ends with players having equal Victory Points.

Defeat: 1 League Point

If your opponent achieves an Absolute Victory or Victory, the defeated player is awarded 1 League Point.

Concession: 0 League Points

If a player concedes the match.

Crucible of Conflict

Crucible of Conflict is the second block of the series, and runs November 4th through December 2nd. Here’s a look at the different scenarios you’ll be playing.

Scenario A

Both armies move to take the hill located in the lower center of the map. Claiming the hill uncontested will net your forces 2 Victory Points per turn, with 6 VP needed to win. Successfully navigate treacherous terrain to out-maneuver your opponent and secure victory!

CCA

Scenario B

The next scenario has 2 VP locations on either side of the Northern Temple. Both capture zones are contestable by either army, and will net the forces that secure them 1 VP each turn. Can you lock-down both regions, or will you move to hold one while denying your opponent the other? 6 VP will secure dominion of the region!

CCB

Scenario C

The final contest will be a battle to the Last Golem Standing. Blind spots and various obstructions make mana hard-won. Tactical thinking, and an adaptable strategy will help ensure you crush your opponent and snatch a well earned place in the history of conquest!

CCC

Each Block contains a unique set of three scenarios with different victory conditions (for example; Last Golem Standing, King of the Hill, and Control). At each League event you use the same 500 point army for all three scenarios. Players earn League Points for playing and winning League battles within an event. After all players at the event have played all three scenarios the player with the most League Points is the winner of the event.

You can participate in as many League Events as you wish, even if you won a previous one.

You can find League of the Hundred Skulls events in your area on the event calendar [here], or how to become an emissary and host your own events [here].

Go forth, to victory and great honor!

Tidal Lord 180x180

Now Available: The Tidal Lord!

Tidal Lord 800 pxThe Zikia Tidal Lord, fifth in our line of Web Exclusive singles, is now available via our US, Canadian, and European web stores!

The Tidal Lord reigns supreme while standing in Water regions on the map. Enemies sharing its region suffer 10 damage each turn, while Allies seeking the Tidal Lord’s protection recover 10 health each turn while in its region.

Like the non-elite Fen Lord, the Tidal Lord can slow down enemy units. The Riptide attack reduces enemy movement by 3 for one round, but if it shares a Water region with the Tidal Lord this duration is 2 rounds.

The Tidal Lord can also utilize a Pull attack like its non-elite brother — but the Churning Sea has the option of targeting Allies, in which case it gains Accuracy and does zero damage. Combined with the Tidal Lord’s passive ability, it can either pull enemy Golems to their watery doom, or re-position allies for healing.

League of the Hundred Skulls: Conquest of Eretsu Block 1 Live!

League-of-the-hundred-Skulls-banner1-1030x295

The League of the Hundred Skulls returns today with Conquest of Eretsu!

Block 1 will run from September 30th through October 28th and is titled “Impending Aggression”.

During a League Play event, players battle each other with a single 500-point army across three scenarios using the same map, but with various victory conditions and deployment zones.

Scenarios will vary over the course of events, as well as during each of the blocks over the 12-week League season, (now through December 30th). Details of the first block’s scenarios are below.

League Points

Players earn League Points for playing and winning League battles within an event. After all players at the event have played all three scenarios, the player with the most League Points is the winner of the event.

Earn a total of 40 League Points during the 12-week season for an invitation to a League of the Hundred Skulls Regional Tournament. We will soon publish more details on the Regional and Grand Championships, which will be held at GenCon.

Impending Aggression

Impending Aggression is the first block of the series, and runs now through October 28th. Here’s a look at the different scenarios you’ll be playing.

Scenario A

This scenario is a contest to keep control of your victory region while denying the opponent control of the other. 3 victory points will be needed to win, and your zone awards 1 VP per round that you control it un-contested. Deploy your forces, and move aggressively to take victory!

IMG_0148

Scenario B

In the next scenario you’ll face a traditional battle to the last Golem standing, with victory achieved by destroying all your opponent’s Golems. You’ll place your Golems in either of the highlighted deployment zones, and battle is joined as you attempt to outmaneuver your enemy.

Scenario C

The final scenario presents double contested victory regions. With the centrally located objectives, expect a hard fight for control. Earn 1 Victory Points per turn that you control either region uncontested, and collect 5VP total to win.

Each Block contains a unique set of three scenarios with different victory conditions (for example; Last Golem Standing, King of the Hill, and Control). At each League event you use the same 500 point army for all three scenarios. Players earn League Points for playing and winning League battles within an event. Ash-and-Bone_MD

Of Ash and Bone – Update!

image

Libir’s ghostly, recently vacant streets now quake as the armies of Eretsu fight for control of the city’s powerful secrets. The Great Weald of the Wildwood has unleashed its fury, establishing control over much of the haunted city. However, Vanya’s rivals from the Realm of Cinders have also met with some success. Raga Dasra has taken almost a fifth of the city on her own, while Raja Sudhamra’s forces are apparently more concerned with stopping Izvari’s Ascendant Wake, and themselves maintain control of only a few blocks. Izvari and her Wake are undeterred by the attempts of both Sudhamra and Raga Nandanna to crush them. Izvari has secured a portion of the city comparable to Dasra’s. As the contest rages on, the Ancient Ones have not seen fit to grant any faction the untold wealth of power hidden within the city’s temples. Perhaps they enjoy the spectacle of the great armies vying for Libir’s lost prizes—one can never assume to know the minds of the Ancients. What can be said is a call across Eretsu summons knights of every arcanum to join the fight for Libir.

-Herald of Eretsu

Hi Folks,

John here, (Organized Play Coordinator for HBS). GenCon was a BLAST! It was amazing to meet so many of you at our booth, event hall, and out and around the convention. Golem Arcana players are some of the most passionate and genuine that I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting.

Running games in the Event Hall and getting to watch people play for the first time, as well as seeing familiar faces, was incredibly rewarding. For a lot of folks (around 560 of them!), “Ash and Bone” was their first taste of Golem Arcana and the Living World format of scenarios. You can find all the details of the scenario here.
Due to that, and the demand for the story involved; we are going to extend the length of time that “Ash and Bone” is available for play. The scenario can still be found in the “Story” tab and will remain available through August 19th.
Look for an update on the state of the battle above (based on the GenCon and home/organized play so far).
Tired, but triumphant,
John

Code Update: August

A brand new update to Golem Arcana has hit the Apple and Google servers today. (It can sometimes take 24 hours to propagate through all the various Servers around the world, so you should see it soon if you haven’t already.)

AUTO-SAVE

The game will now auto-save every turn. If your game is interrupted before completion, you’ll be able to Load it from the main menu: Battle > Start Game. The current list of saved games are displayed below the >New Game> button (if there are any games saved). There is only ever one auto-save at a time — so once you complete a game, the auto-save will be cleared out. If you start a New Game, the auto-save file will be for that game.

iOS Performance — depending on your device, you may find an extra delay at the beginning of each turn when playing large games or more complex scenarios. We’re sorry for the inconvenience and we’ve already submitted a hot-fix to Apple for review. A patch for this problem should make its way through their system in about a week.

In the current Android version (and future iOS version), you can also turn off Auto-Save in the Settings (off the Main Menu).

CHANGES TO CHARGING COSTS

We’ve changed how Charge costs are paid for: if a Golem does not leave its current Region during a Charge, the Movement ability does not gain any Cooldown, which means its Movement Cost does not increase. You still pay the AP cost for the Movement + Attack Ability.

Some practical implications and examples:

  • if the Charging Golem is starting from further away than the adjacent Region, the Movement will still gain Cooldown, because even if it misses or is not able to dislodge its target, it will still leave its current Region
  • if the attacking Golem is in an adjacent Region and misses its target, its Movement ability will not increase in cost
  • if the attacking Golem is in an adjacent Region and cannot displace its target (because it is smaller Class than the Target), its Movement ability will not increase in cost  – this means that attacking an enemy Colossus just got a lot easier for Golems with multiple cheap Melee attacks and a cheap Movement

CHANGES TO COLOSSUS BREAKDOWNS

With the arrival of the Ashmogh on the scene, we needed to clean up how the Colossus Breakdown system works. As you know, as a Colossus loses health, it also loses access to some of its Attacks and Knights. At 60% health, it loses one Attack. At 40% health, it loses on Knight. At 20% health it loses both an Attack and a Knight.

Here are the changes we’ve made for what happens at these Colossus Breakdown points:

  • when a Colossus loses enough health to go past a Breakdown point, it’s Army will gain 25% of the Death Mana — so no longer do you get a TON of Mana when the Colossus dies, but instead you’ll get some of that Mana along the way
  • if a Colossus gains enough health to go back above its Breakdown point, it will regain a lost Knight or Attack — BUT, when it loses enough Health to breakdown again, it will not gain another portion of Death Mana.

BANNER CLIPS

We have manufactured a special accessory for Golem Arcana to make it easier to play with multiples of the same Golem in the same Army as well as when facing an enemy Army that has some of the same Golems as you. This product is made up of a new design of Banner Stands and small Clips that attach to the top of them — and a series of OID-code stickers that go on the top of the Clips.

In addition to helping manage multiple Golems on the table, the Clips are designed to perfectly hold in place your custom banners, created in the App and printed out on regular printer paper. Show off your Faction loyalty with pride!

BannerClips4

NEXT WEEK, on our Web Store , you may purchase two different products:

  • Multi-Player Banner Clips — includes 10 clips each of 6 different designs: 60 banner stands, clips and stickers: $24.99
This is ideal for up to 1000 point armies, and six player games.
  • Epic-Game Banner Clips — includes 25 clips each of 2 different designs: 50 banner stands, clips and stickers: $19.99
This is ideal for larger two player games, all the way up to 3000 points.

So if you were to buy both, you’ll have easy support for 8 player 1000 point games. BUT since each sticker has a unique OID code on it, it doesn’t help to own two of the same set.

These products are EXCLUSIVE to the Golem Arcana web store and will not be available at retail.

Assigning Banner Clips

After you’ve started a new game (Main Menu > Battle > Start Game), you’ll see a new box in the upper right corner: “Banner Clip”. Tap this and you’ll be able to pick which overall design of Banner Clips you’re going to be using for that Army.

BannerClipSelection_wCallouts

The app will automatically assign a number to each Golem in your Army, in numerical order. If you happen to misplace one of your Clips, you can manually change an individual Golem’s number by tapping the Banner next to that Golem’s knight portrait — a pop-up will let you pick a new unassigned number to that Golem.

ReassignBannerNumber_wCallouts

Using Banner Clips in the Game

During play, any time you want to activate or target a Golem you can just tap the Banner Clip instead. The top of the Clip has a sloped ‘roof’ to it, perfect for an angled Tap just like tapping the base of a Golem. The app will know exactly which Golem you want to use, no matter how many other Golems of the same kind are already on the board.

BannerClips2

ARMY OVERVIEW

We’ve created a new way to get a bird’s eye view of all the Golems still in the game and more easily navigate to the Golem you’re interested in.

You’ll see a new symbol in the upper-right corner of the screen during gameplay — a stylized all-seeing EYE. Tap this icon to bring up the new Map & Army Overview screen.

How_to_Get_Overview_wCallouts

The next screen will show the map in a top-down view, and a more easily browesable summary of each army. Choose the Army for the right side-bar by tapping its Banner design. Tap a Golem from that side-bar to zoom the map to that Golem and exit the overview.

MISCELLANEOUS BUG FIXES

We have also done quite a bit of miscellaneous Bug Fixes. We’ll have those changes summarized on our Support page just as soon as we can.
